Food Manager Certification
- At least one certified Maryland Food Service Manager must be on-site during all hours of
operation at those establishments where food is being prepared or handled.
Some counties may require two certified managers.
- Certification requires the passage of an approved exam such as ServSafe.
- Certification is usually valid for 3 years (this may vary depending on the county).
- Some counties require submission of an application and payment of an additional fee
for the issuance of a local permit. Please check with your local health authority.
